In late August 2013, Noah Lamey, a very active, athletic, typical 9 year old boy, began vomiting and complaining of extreme fatigue and that his “belly hurt” … very UNTYPICAL of Noah. After several visits to his pediatrician and to the ER, he was admitted for a second time in a week to the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP). On September 10, 2013, Noah was diagnosed with Dilated Cardiomyopathy (DCM is a condition in which the heart becomes weakened and enlarged and cannot pump blood efficiently). Cardiomyopathy continues to be the leading reason for heart transplants in children.
